Folic acid
Folic acid is a water-soluble vitamin. It is named because of its abundant content in green leaves, also known as pteroylglutamic acid. There are several forms in nature. Its parent compound is a combination of three components: pteridine, p-aminobenzoic acid and glutamic acid.
Folic acid contains one or more glutamyl groups, and most naturally occurring folic acid is in the polyglutamic acid form. The biologically active form of folic acid is tetrahydrofolate.
Folic acid is a yellow crystal that is slightly soluble in water, but its sodium salt is very soluble in water. Insoluble in ethanol. It is easily destroyed in acidic solutions, unstable to heat, easily lost at room temperature, and easily destroyed by exposure to light.
Application
1. Improve megaloblastic anemia,
2. Pregnant women taking in a safe amount of folic acid can prevent arteriosclerosis, fetal malformations and premature birth;
3. Promote milk secretion.
4. Improve tongue redness, swelling and pain, lethargy, fatigue and insomnia;
5. Prevent intestinal parasites and food poisoning;
6. Promote skin health and prevent oral mucosal ulcers;
7. Taking it together with pantothenic acid and para-aminobenzoic acid can prevent gray hair;
8. Taking it when the body is weak can promote appetite.
